What More Would You Like To Learn?
Recently, I switched to using a wireless connection instead of the wired one. The reason for this is because of the convinience and because wires could be a real hassle. The only problem with the Wifi is that it is less secure than the wired connections. Since the information is delivered through the air, it is very vunrable to anyone that has a divice to intercept these signals. I heard that there are a few ways to secure these connections such as using WEPs. I wish to learn more about how these work and i also want to learn other ways of enhancing security on the wireless connections.

Viral Video
Viral videos are informed by the word of mouth and then gains popularity among the people. Since it is very popular and it is free of charge, it is often very easy to get access to. examples of these videos would include amatuers trying to advertise their products, to amateurs entertainment videos. A site which includes such videos is: www.funnyplace.org, are several video in this site which are for advertisements of some sort and includes a slight sense of humour. Another site is: www.ebaumsworld.com. This site contains a lot more vidoes than the previous stated site and is mostly made by amateurs. The video section is divided in four secions and there is a large list to choose from. I think that sites like these which include these kinds of videos is quite entertaining sometimes.

Three websites I recommend
The first site I want to introduce is a blog site, xanga or www.xanga.com . It is probably the most popular online diary site in asia and people are encouraged to leave comments on, read other peoples and leave comments, feedbacks etc. The second site i want to introduce is www.candystand.com . It is a site where you can enjoy games for free. The games here are mostly java based games, from simple ones like Fu ball to very complex ones such as wicky woo. It is a site where you can waste hours and hours on those boring days. The last site I want to introduce is www.videohelp.com . At this site, there are forums and articles on technical imformation and help about computers. Most of the articles posted here are on softwares and how to deal with problems. There are simple guides such as recommended video softwares to advanced ones like fine-tuning softwares.

Recent Computer News
One advancement in the computer world is the wireless connectivity. It has been around for some time but it has started to be used broadly only recently for non-commercial use. It operates very similarly to wired connections except that it is broadcasted through the air like a radio signal. The major point is that the user can have access to the internet without the hassle of the cables getting it the way. Although a wireless connection seems a lot more convinient, it does have its drawbacks. Wireless connections are generally a lot slower than wired conenctions. In fact the fastest connection I heard about is around 54Mbps, while wired connections currently used is usually at least 100 Mbps. A wireless hardware is more expensive than the ethernet cards but a wireless netword has the advantage of not needing hubs or switches. The wireless base stations or access points could provide the signal for the computer to access the internet. Also, wireless base stations provide more far more connections than routers, making it possible to make a large network at ease.

Net Neutrality
The internet has been a place able for anyone to access for a long time. It is a place where people can view blogs and websites for entertainment. Because of the internet, many companies where able to expand rapidly and allowed enhanced communication technologies for private and public firms. Most of all, the internet is a place where anyone can access for free and without any unfair handicaps such as prioritised bandwidths. However, at the moment there are large telephone and cable companies that are paying millions to nullify this code of freedom. The objective of these large firms is to have control over the internet deciding which websites go faster or slower or not load up at all. They also want to tax providers and retard the competitors services while enhancing their own. This may not sound as thought it wil affect the people that are not involved in the internet industry but it does. It will actually affect everyone that is using the internet and a has a potential harm that the people will not be able to use the internet unbiasly.

What will Computers Be Like In The Future?
I think that in the future, our lives will virtually be evolving around computers. Computers will be so powerful that it will be able to manage pretty mch any task given. Firstly it will be extremely powerful compared to the computers we have in the present. Instead of measuring harddisc capacities in Gigabytes, we will probably be measuring them in terabytes in the near future. The performance of computers will be so powerful that all of the communications program could run smoothly on the pc. Even in the present, telecommunications exists but the quality of the image is not that clear. There is also a lag when using video-telephones. Also in the future, the wireless technology will probably be upgraded significantly to the point that it will be as fast and as secure as our current broadband connections. Virtually all of the peripheral utilities will be wireless.

Computer Gifts I would buy for Friends & Family
First of all I do not think that I will be actually buying a computer as a gift for a family member or a friend. It is a little bit too expensive, and the person might not like the one I chose because everyone has a different taste. A computer can also vary depending on who is using it too, for example it is not nessecary to buy an extremely fast computer for someone that is only going to use it for surfing the internet. Instead of a computer, I think i will but that person an ipod or a digital video camera instead. It is a lot cheaper in price, and it is not nessacary to upgrade or modify it in anyway depending on the person that is going to use it. An ipod for example is a lot smaller and size too, it is very convinient because of its portability. As for a digital video camera it is small in size too and it is possible to transfer all the data directly into the computer for editting.

From out I have researached, social engineering is a serious crime as it is the leakage of personal information. it is when the host of a server gives out a users personal information to people that are willing to pay for the information. These informations could include credit card details, phone numbers, a users password for certain accounts etc. This is slightly different from spywares, adware and trojans as it is a lot easier to perfrom since the host has the advantage to aqquire these information very easily. The information given out is then used for criminal activities and fraudlent activities. This is a problem that can only be solved after the incident actually occurs because the victims has no idea that they are targeted until their personal information is actually used. These are the reasons why we should not input are personal information stored in our computer or hand it out to unreliable sites.

What I Want To Learn About Computers
Right now, there are quite a few things I want to learn about computers. Firstly I want to learn how to opperate different kinds of operating systems especially the mac and the linux os. I have heard quite a few things about the linux and how much more advanced operations are possible using the linux. I have also heard that it is very difficult to use though. Even though I am willing to learn how to use it, I do not have the opportunity to do so. I do not have enough knowlegde on hardwares so I think that this is preventing me to learn on this at the moment. On the other hand I have used the mac a few times but since I am not a frequent mac user, I have a lot of difficulties using it. Since I am into video editing/authoring I wish to use the mac in the near future. This is because I heard that the mac is a lot more efficient than the windows more such work. The second thing I want to learn how to do with a computer is to be able to manage a website. In the near future I want to be able to load up a site for beneficial purposes. I have tried learning how to use html but I found it quite confusing to use. I hope that I will be able to learn all these in the near future.

How I started using a Computer
I remember back in my earlier years of highschool when I was one of the few students that didn't own a computer. Not only was I not able to use the computer for leisure, I was not able to hand in important assignments on time because I had to use the computers in the pc lab in school which was occupied most of the time.
By the time I was around 15 I was given my own computer and things became a lot more convinient. At that time i knew how to do the basics on the computer such as using the internet and using microsoft words for working on school assignments. But I encountered lots of problems and troubleshoots when I tried doing something that I was new, but each time I faced problems, I was able to learn more by figuring out solutions to them. By the time I was 17 I was not satisfied with my computers performance so I decided to get a new one. The new desktop I bought was quite impressive at that time but later on I modified it when I learnt that it could be upgraded. At first I made a lot of mistakes, spending more money than I should have with new hardwares but eventually I got what I wanted. Working with hardwares is a lot of fun but recently I am more interested in softwares and programming. I hope to learn more on this in the classes here.
